Pieter Mathews hosts Best Practice Sharing Session

The sessions take place at the Building Materials Centre in Dar es Salaam (Masaki), Tanzania.

LafargeHolcim Tanzania is hosting a series of Best Practice Sharing Sessions for key players in the building industry, free of charge. These sessions will take place at the company’s Building Materials Centre in Dar es Salaam, starting in May 2019 with presentations by renowned South African architect, Pieter Mathews.

These Best Practice Sharing Sessions are intended to promote knowledge and give valuable insights into the construction industry. Architects, contractors and industry players are welcome to attend the sessions, but space is limited so book your seat here.

Who is Pieter Mathews?

Pieter Mathews is the lead architect and principal of Mathews and Associates Architects (MAAA). It is an award-winning architectural and design firm that was formed in 2000 and is situated in Pretoria. Mathews obtained his degree in architecture from the University of Pretoria after being awarded the Gold Fields of South Africa Scholarship for Architecture.

Mathews has held numerous positions and titles in the field of architecture; he was the president of the Pretoria Institute for Architecture (PIA) in 2013 and 2014, as well as a board member of the South African Institute for Architects (SAIA).

In 2018, Mathews was awarded the prestigious Medal of Honour Visual Art (Architecture) by the South African Academy of Science and Art. This award has only been received by 20 architects since 1909. He has authored, edited and published various books and catalogues in the field of architecture and design, including his own book titled Architexture.

Mathews is also an external examiner for the Department of Architecture at the University of Pretoria, the University of the Free State and Tshwane University of Technology. He was also elected as an architectural judge for the 2019 PPC Imaginarium Awards.

Mathews is the founding member of his architectural firm, MAAA, as well as MG Design Box (an interior design boutique), Visual Books (an architecture publishing house) and the Cool Capital Biennale (a citizen-driven initiative that puts design into the public domain).

Mathews will add value to Tanzanian building industry

Through his six sessions at the Building Materials Centre, Mathews will share valuable insights and knowledge with Tanzanian architects and contractors. Attendees will be able to engage with Mathews on his work and experience in the field.

These knowledge-sharing sessions will be a highlight for industry players. Spaces at each of the sessions are limited to ensure exclusivity and quality engagement with attendees.
