Tembo FastaPlus used in Chunya road construction

Chunya road construction

LafargeHolcim Tanzania has been a trusted partner in the production and supply of building materials and cement for many years. Our Tembo cement products are suited to a variety of applications in the construction of buildings, bridges, dams and roads. Our Tembo FastaPlus cement has been chosen for a 72-kilometre road project from Chunya to Makongolosi, just north of Mbeya.

The project will cost just under 40 billion Tzs to upgrade the surface to bitumen standards. The existing gravel road will be resurfaced and realigned. Water drainage ditches will be dug alongside the road. The project also involves building a new bridge over the Lupa River and installing better pipe culverts with advanced erosion protection.

The road upgrade started in 2018 and LafargeHolcim Tanzania was chosen as the preferred cement supplier. An average of 300 to 400 tonnes of Tembo FastaPlus has been used in the project every month so far. However, this volume could increase to up to 600 tonnes per month as work advances on the road.

To meet these high volumes of cement required for the road resurfacing, LafargeHolcim Tanzania delivers the cement in bulk. We also offer value-added services such as storage silos and containers to keep the cement dry and up to high international standards. Our dedicated team is driven by excellent customer service and the timely delivery of our cement products.
